WorshipCommunion † Baptisms † Music † Video Projection † Altar Guild † Banner Committee
On the 3rd Sunday of the month, we celebrate Intinction Holy Communion. Worshippers come forward, receive a bread wafer, dip it into the wine or grape juice, and consume both at the same time. (Intinct means “to dip”). All baptized Christians believing in the presence of Christ within the elements of bread and wine are welcome to commune at First Lutheran regardless of their church background. Uninstructed children can come forward for a pastoral blessing. Instruction for first communion is offered for children in the spring of their 4th grade year and celebrated at a special Maundy Thursday evening service. Older children and adults who have not received instruction can contact the pastors for individual teaching.
Parents who have not received instruction at First Lutheran Church and are anticipating a baptism for their child(ren) need to attend an instruction class. This class is offered periodically throughout the year. Adults seeking to be baptized also receive instruction. Contact the church office for more information. Music is very important at First Lutheran Church! That why the congregation offers a variety of options for people to express their faith musically. Video Projection is consistently used at the beginning of each service to communicate various announcements for worshippers. “Hands free” worship using the video projector is offered periodically throughout the year. Volunteer Worship Technicians staff the church’s AV booth, controlling sound, lighting, video and audio recording, cameras and a computer. The Altar Guild is a group of women who prepare the chancel for celebrating worship. This includes everything from setting up the chancel area to celebrate the sacraments (Holy Communion or Baptism) to placing the correct paraments on the pulpit, altar and lectern in the chancel area ~ the front part of the church. For more information, contact Altar Guild Chair Jackie Kittelson.
